We joined forces with Dazed Magazine, who reached out to their youth readership asking them to comment on the issues that affect them most. The verdict was in: the government is working to destroy their nightlife safe spaces, access to mental health services, and affordable education, to say nothing of the long-term, xenophobic effects of Brexit on the nation. It only made sense to take these issues directly to the Houses of Parliament, and we figured we'd stop at Nelson's Column and the Royal Courts of Justice on the way.
It didn't end there. The UK Pride parade had been derailed by anti-trans harassment only days before, by members of the LGBTQ community who took it upon themselves to attempt to erase the identities of our trans brothers, and attack the identities of our trans sisters. It is more than a shame that a group of people should create an identity around vilifying another marginalized group, it is truly a hateful act. We traveled to the Ministry of Justice to project a simple truth that bears repeating: Trans Women Are Women, and Trans Men Are Men.
